The Alliance Française Dunedin is a centre for French language and French culture. Although some of our events are in French, most are bilingual. Members do not have to be fluent in French to take advantage of our various activities.

Most of our events are held at our clubrooms at 15 Bond Street, behind the Exchange post office. Everyone is welcome… come and practice your French!

Our regular meetings (and opening hours) are:

  • Soirée Crêpes – Pancakes night: 2nd Thursday of the month from 6.30pm – 2ème jeudi du mois à partir de 18h30
  • Le p’tit déj – French Brunch: 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 10:30am – 1er et 3ème samedi du mois à partir de 10h30

From time to time, we do change the day of those events not to clash with some other events, so please contact us beforehand or check our FB page to be sure we’ll be there.

    Stage de construction et de manipulation de marionnettes

    Ce stage de vacances, pour enfants francophones, initiera les jeunes a l'art de la marionnette. Durant la semaine, les enfants feront des activités liées a la fabrication et a la manipulation des marionnettes. Organisé et animé par une spécialiste!

    This holiday workshop for French-speaking children aims to introduce children to the world of puppetry through a range of activities. During the week, children will learn to make and use puppets to tell stories, and take part in themed activities. The workshop is organised by Emilie, who is a puppet specialist!

    Suitable for ages 5-10 years old. Children must be able to understand and speak French.

    Dates: Mon 25 January - Fri 29 January.

    Time: 9am - 3pm each day

    Cost: $250 for the 5-day workshop. Children to bring a packed lunch, drink bottle and clothing appropriate for the season.

    Open Day

    from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 30th January 2021 at 15 Bond Street!

    There will be a colouring competition for the children, coffee for the adults, and croissants for all. Come meet us, see what we do, meet the teachers, sign-up for classes, become a member or renew your membership.

    The best way to learn a language is to go to a French speaking country and be fully immersed in the language, so Quarantine Island is becoming French for a weekend! Come experience a bit of French culture and enjoy a weekend away in a friendly, supportive and totally French speaking environment. Suitable for French speakers and French learners of all ages and abilities.

    Pricing includes chartered boat to and from the Island, accommodation (dormitory style or in tents), food and activities.
    BYO Beverages and a plate to share for the potluck dinner on Friday night.

    Child (5-14yrs) $50
    Child (under 5yrs) $30
    Family (1 adult & up to 3 children or 2 adults & up to 2 children) $220
